FOUR CYLINDER FWD CLASS

Approved Cars:

  1. Any FWD 4 cylinder car with a maximum 103" wheel base.
  2. Stock original uni-body with full floor, firewall, trunks & inner fenders.
  3. Steering must remain stock for make and model.
  4. Original dash maybe removed and replaced with fabricated dash.
  5. No convertibles, station wagons, two seat sports cars, four-wheel drive, independent suspension allowed.

Engine, Transmission & Rear End:

  1. Stock motor for make and model.
  2. Stock carburetor or fuel injection for the make and model.
  3. Stock transmission for the make and model.
  4. Stock rear end for the make and model.
  5. Stock suspension for the make and model.
  6. No performance parts (i.e. ignition, suspension, air induction, etc.).

Gas Tank:

  1. Original gas tank can remain stock if it is ahead of the rear axle and properly secured. If original tank is behind the rear axle it MUST be removed. A fuel cell must be mounted in the trunk area, enclosed and securely mounted. Fuel cells recommended for original tanks that are ahead of rear axle.
  2. All fuel lines must be properly secured and made of proper material. Braided, metal or high pressure hose.
  3. Cars must have a firewall between the driver's compartment and the trunk and engine compartment.

Tires and Wheels:

  1. Tires and wheels must be stock size for the model of the car. All 4 the same size.
  2. No cast or aluminum wheels.
  3. No racing tires or recaps. Must be DOT.
  4. No grooving or sipping tires.
  5. No aggressive tread design (ex. blizzard or winter tread).

General and Safety:

  1. Roll bars mandatory. A full 6 point roll cage constructed of mild steel tubing. Major tubes must be 11/2 OD x .090 wall thickness minimum. The major tubes are all tubes in the 6 point cage and the driver's door bars. Driver and passenger openings must have two side bars with uprights. All bars in driver's area must be padded.
  2. Triangular gussets must be welded in all drivers door bars and all major support bars.
  3. Recommended: Front (engine compartment) and rear (trunk area) hoops connected to the main roll cage and frame for strength and safety.
  4. Nerf Bars may be added to the outsides of both doors. Must be properly connected to main cage. Ends must be closed and NO sharp edges. Must be mounted tight to body.
  5. All glass MUST be removed and the windshield replaced with heavy screen and center support bar for strength.
  6. No mirrors.
  7. One-way radios are mandatory.
  8. A window net is mandatory on driver's door.
  9. Doors must be welded shut.
  10. Approved aluminum racing seat mandatory. Stock seats must be removed. Must have 5 point racing seat belt harness. Must not be older then 5 years old and in good condition. Must be properly mounted.
  11. Must have approved fire suit, full face helmet, gloves and neck support.
  12. Battery must remain under the hood and properly secured.
  13. Must have a master kill switch boldly labeled "ON" and "OFF" within reach of driver and safety crew if necessary.
  14. All cars should be neat and brightly painted. Dark cars not recommended.
  15. Must have neat bold numbers on both doors and roof minimum 16" tall. Should have smaller numbers on front and rear of car.
  16. FRONT AND REAR TOW HOOKS MANDADORY.
  17. A minimum weight may be established by the track.
  18. Safety is of the utmost importance to I-88 Speedway. Any car deemed unsafe by the tech inspector will not be able to compete until safety requirements are meet.
  19. Driver's minimum age is fourteen (14). With signed waiver by parent.
  20. This division is considered an amateur division and must be treated as such. Drivers from other divisions will not be allowed to compete in this class.
  21. Promoters reserve the right to make changes to any of the rules for this division at any time for the intended purpose of fair competition.

ALL I-88 SPEEDWAY RULES WILL BE ENFORCED FOR THE 4 CYL. FWD CLASS.
